Because they belong to a naturally - or rather, Ethereally - introverted species, Soxes shy away from spontaneous musical improvisations with fellow Monsters. After all, who knows what embarrassing sound could potentially escape from their tail holes? The Rare variant, however, puts its oversized ears to good use by experimenting with new harmony lines at such a low volume that only it can hear them. This little trick boosts its confidence, but it still needs to psych itself up for full scale performances.

Description[]

Rare Sox is a Double-Element Rarethereal Monster exclusive to Ethereal Island. It was added on March 10th, 2017 during Version 2.0.3. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. It is bred using the same combination as its Common variant, being Ghazt and Jeeode. By default, its breeding time is 2 days, 4 hours, and 30 minutes long. As a Rare Double-Element Ethereal, Rare Sox has a decent Shard production, although Single-Element Ethereals are recommended.

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Sox:

Notes[]

  • Rare Sox's ears resemble those of fennec foxes.
  • Rarethereal Research on the Rare Sox reveals that its horns are actually cast-off metal pads used to "poke sleeping Grumpyres."[1]
  • Rare Sox's horns may be inspired by Japanese fox spirits sometimes being depicted with antlers.
  • Rare Sox was planned at some point to be featured in Those Singing Monsters before its cancellation.
    • In the concept art for the show, it stood on two feet, wore purple lipstick, and had white eyes with eyelashes and gold tail holes.
  • There used to be a glitch with Rare Sox in early 2023, where the purple crystals on the middle of its head were colored green. It remained this way until it was fixed in late 2023.
