My Singing Monsters

Finally - the Rare Shellbeat has been revealed! This especially bashful being only emerges once in a blue moon, so great care must be taken to make sure it feels welcome among its fellow monsters. Once it's settled in a jam session, the Rare Shellbeat has been known to produce pearls of exceptional quality from its unique shell, which it gives away as presents! This curious quad-element often contemplates the nature of the monster world, and the possibility of alternate universes. If it's learned anything, it has so far decided to keep the secrets to itself.
Monster Bio

Description[]

Rare Shellbeat is a Quad-Element Rare Monster. It was added on June 5th, 2015 during Version 1.3.4. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. It is best obtained by breeding or by purchasing from the StarShop. Its breeding combination is the same as its Common variant. By default, its breeding time is 1 day, 6 hours, and 30 minutes long. Rare Shellbeat has a great Coin production, which can be useful before getting its Epic variant or other Monsters with higher Coin production.

Breeding[]

Rare Shellbeat has the same breeding combinations as the Common Shellbeat, using Monsters that combine to provide all four elements, Plant, Air, Water and Earth without repeating any elements.

The following pairs of Double-Element Monsters can be used to breed a Rare Shellbeat:

However, the combination of a Triple-Element with Single-Element Monster has a higher rate of success for getting a Rare Shellbeat instead of one of the parents as the outcome:

Of these, Spunge+Noggin is the best combination, as it has the lowest average breeding times in case of breeding failure.

There is also a small chance of producing a Shellbeat or Rare Shellbeat from a failed breeding attempt, using a Shellbeat and a Double-Element Monster, though this strategy is not recommended for breeding Rare Shellbeat.

The Rare version of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common version. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Shellbeat and a Common Shellbeat together. The outcome will always be a Shellbeat, and if a Rare Shellbeat is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Shellbeat, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

  • All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
  • All Monsters with a specific element.
  • All Monsters with a specific theme.
  • A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.

In particular, they are likely to appear during Special Occasions.

The exception is Rare Fire Monsters on Amber Island. These are evolved in the Crucible, and are available any time after the Crucible is unlocked (by having 15 Monsters on Amber Island).

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Shellbeat:

Egg Consumption[]

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Rare Wublins and Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare Shellbeat eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Rare Wublins and Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare Shellbeat eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Rare Wublins have no time limit, and their egg inventories cannot be reset. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare Shellbeat is not required for the Celestial to ascend.

Notes[]

  • The symbol on the middle drum is identical to the Runic Path, the symbol that represents the Magical Monsters. This may tie into the Rare Shellbeat's fascination with "the nature Monster World, and the possibility of alternate universes", as mentioned in its bio.
  • Rare Shellbeat's head resembles the mantle and fins of a squid, while regular Shellbeat's resembles that of an octopus.
