Much can be said for the Common Oaktopus' powerful tentacles, but when it comes to fine motor skills, that's where the Rares have the upper hand... literally! A pair of nimble tentilla is used to explore the world around them and groom their blond silks. Rare Oaktopi are perhaps a little too wily for their own good, and experiment with various slimes and oozes to brew potent potions.

Description[]

Rare Oaktopus is a Double-Element Rare Monster. It was added on February 20th, 2015 during Version 1.3.2. As a Rare Monster, it is only available at select times. When available, it is best obtained by breeding Potbelly and Toe Jammer, or by purchasing from the StarShop. By default, its breeding time is 10 hours and 30 minutes long. Although a Rare Monster, Rare Oaktopus still does not have high Coin production.

Breeding[]

Rare Oaktopus can be bred the same way as a Common Oaktopus. The combination is:

On Shugabush Island, Rare Oaktopus can be bred with Shugabush and Oaktopus (which may result in Shugajo), or teleported from any other island it is found on once it reaches level 15.

Any kind of breeding attempt which includes a Common Oaktopus may fail, and give a Rare Oaktopus as a result instead of the Common Oaktopus. This includes all of the breeding combinations that can't ever work in the usual way.

The Rare version of any Monster can be used for breeding instead of the Common variant. In addition, it is possible to breed a Rare Oaktopus and a Common Oaktopus together. The outcome will always be an Oaktopus and if a Rare Oaktopus is available at that time, it may result from this combination.

Given a Level 20 Potbelly, Level 20 Toe Jammer, and 10 Torches lit, the chance of getting a Rare Oaktopus is 20%.

Availability[]

For a list of when this Monster has been available, see: Breeding Availability

Rare Oaktopus, like all Rare Natural and Fire Monsters, is only available for breeding and buying some of the time during special events. Examples of such events:

  • All Monsters that appear on a certain Island.
  • All Monsters with a specific element.
  • All Monsters with a specific theme.
  • A seemingly random selection of a handful of Monsters.

In particular, they are likely to appear during Special Occasions.

The exception is Rare Fire Monsters on Amber Island. These are evolved in the Crucible, and are available any time after the Crucible is unlocked (by having 15 Monsters on Amber Island).

Likes[]

Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Rare Oaktopus:

Egg Consumption[]

While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Rare Wublins and Celestials can be used to "dispose of" Rare Oaktopus eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Rare Wublins and Celestials; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Rare Oaktopus eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Rare Wublins have no time limit, and their egg inventories cannot be reset. Awakened Celestials only accept eggs during their corresponding Celestial month. When being zapped into Celestials as a Flex Egg, Rare Oaktopus is not required for the Celestial to ascend.
