“ | Potbellies are all Plant, and grow like weeds. They are welcome participants in the chorus, so long as they wear their pots and refrain from invading others' space. | ” |
— Monster Biography |
Description[]
Potbelly is the Single-Element Monster of Plant, and is first unlocked on Plant Island. It is obtained by purchasing in the Market for 250 . By default, its incubation time is 2 hours long. As a Single-Elemental, Potbelly does not have a high Coin production.
Song[]
Audio sample:
Voice actor: Matthew J. Stewart
Potbelly sings "bap" or "bawmp". The smaller of Potbelly's two heads frequently takes a solo line, riffing on the larger head's steady line. On Fire Haven, it sings "shicka bawmp" instead of just "bawmp." This is currently the only Island where it does this.
Potbelly's vocals range from A#2 to D4, making it a baritone.
Breeding[]
Being a Single-Elemental Natural, Potbelly has no specific breeding combination. Instead, it must be purchased in the Market at Level 9 for 250. After a Potbelly is owned, another Potbelly may be bred as a result of breeding failure while trying to breed a Potbelly with another monster that isn't a Natural Single Elemental. Although any other Monster may be used, combinations using a Quad-Elemental will result in a Potbelly 100% of the time. Examples of this include:
- + Entbrat and Potbelly
- + Deedge and Potbelly
- + Shellbeat and Potbelly
- + Quarrister and Potbelly
- + Tring and Potbelly
- + Blow't and Potbelly
- + Gloptic and Potbelly
(NOTE: Deedge and Potbelly is only used on Cold Island and not Shugabush Island)
On Shugabush Island, Potbelly must either be purchased with Diamonds or teleported from any of the Natural Islands (It cannot be teleported from the Magical or Fire Islands) it is found once it reaches level 15. After a Potbelly is owned on Shugabush Island, another Potbelly may be bred as a result of breeding failure while trying to breed a Shugabass, which has only one combination:
- + Shugabush and Potbelly
The Rare variant of any breeding Monster can be used instead of the Common variant; and much like most Rares, a Potbelly can breed with its Rare variant in all Islands where it is at excluding Shugabush Island, which will always result in another Potbelly. However, it works the same as if using a Quad-Elemental, therefore never resulting in another Rare Potbelly.

Likes[]
Every Monster has different things that they like. For every unique object that they like that's placed near the Monster, the Monster's happiness will increase by 25%. Placing more than one of the same liked item near a Monster won't increase its happiness by an additional amount. If there's a Unity Tree on the Island, items don't need to be near the Monster. Below are the things liked by Potbelly:

- Congle (level 7) ()

Statistics[]
Earning Rate and Maximum Income[]
Earning rate is in Coins per minute and depends on Happiness % (Likes increase Happiness) and Monster Level. Each Monster also has a maximum amount of income it can hold at a time. Increasing the Monster's Level also increases this limit.
Feeding Monsters[]
Each Monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the Monster's level increases the Coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum Coins earned.

More info can be found in the Feeding article.
Egg Consumption[]
While trying to breed other Monsters (particularly Monsters with a very low chance of breeding), the following Wublins, Celestials, and Vessels can be used to "dispose of" Potbelly eggs immediately instead of putting them into a Nursery and having that Nursery not be available. Note that doing this for Rare Wublins will cause the Wublin to stop producing currency and the eggs will not expire.

Note that Monster eggs can only be "disposed of" before awakening Wublins, Celestials, and Vessels; afterwards those Monsters will not accept any eggs. Also note that Monsters to which you have already disposed the number of Potbelly eggs that it accepts, will no longer be available as a "recycle bin" for such eggs. Kayna's Vessel has no time limit, and its egg inventory cannot be reset.

Notes[]
- Potbelly's name is a play on the English word, Potbelly, which is a large, round belly. Potbelly has a potbelly stomach, but is also inside a terracotta pot.
- Potbelly's song changes when either Shrubb or the Broken-down Coloss-Eye is placed on Plant Island, and if Potbelly is not muted, its smaller head sings with Shrubb at the beginning. The same thing also happens with Punkleton and the Dipsters.
- Potbelly is depicted way smaller in the collection book than it actually is when placed. The same situation applies to other Monsters, with Scups and Reedling being other notable examples.
- Sometimes, Potbelly will jump up out of its pot, during which some small leaves and roots on its underside can be briefly seen.
- Potbelly sounded different in the pre-release advertisements.
- If you pay close attention to its Water Island track, you can hear some Monster-Handler briefly saying "yeah" at the start of the track.
- Along with Mammott, Potbelly used to appear on the most standard Islands out of all Monsters, at a total of ten, excluding the Mirror Islands, The Colossingum, and Composer Island. However, they both have since lost that title to the Dipsters.
- Cantorell and Clackula both look similar to Potbelly because of their multiple heads (or fake heads in the case of Clackula) and because they all occupy a 1x1 area.
- Potbelly cannot be teleported to Shugabush Island or placed on Gold Island if it is on Fire Haven, Light Island, Psychic Island, or The Colossingum.
- Potbelly is the only Natural Monster to be required by only one Wublin, Dwumrohl.
- It is possible to have a Potbelly in each of the 751 grid spaces on Gold Island. In order to do this, you'll need to hatch 751 Potbellies, which each take 2 hours. You will need to get Crystalline Castles, Mirror Islands, and Hyper Enhanced Hotels to fit all of the Potbellies on the Natural Islands. It takes a total of 246,072,660 food units to feed all of the Potbellies. If you do all of this, you end up with 751 Potbellies on Gold Island, which is the most amount of Monsters you can have on an island (besides Glowbes).
