The Memory Game is one of the minigames in My Singing Monsters.  It is played by tapping the Activities button or the Castle then tapping "Memory". It costs 2 Diamonds to play again before the 24-hour reset.

How to Play[]

Version 4.1.1[]

As of likely December 6th, 2023, the number of mismatches you're allowed for each round was increased. The Memory Game otherwise appears the same, with the same level designs and reward structures.

Version 4.0.0[]

This version has made the levels more complex and difficult. They have also lowered the amount of mismatches you are allowed for each round.

In addition, the base levels were redesigned, matching musical notation symbols.

1) Appears to be the beam connecting two or more notes in a rhythmic grouping

2) This particular level shape appears to be the 'negative' of the symbol as used in musical notation - with the two missing diagonal lines matching the caesura lines - whereas others are positives.

Version 3.9.0[]

This version seems to have reduced the number of failed moves you can make before the game ends, making it much harder to strategically guess wrong until you know every space.

Version 3.8.4[]

This version made the game much easier. The first level is actually harder, in that it contains 4 tiles instead of just 2. However, the higher levels don't contain as many tiles, making it much easier to complete all 9 levels. The rewards were also adjusted. No relics can be won in the Memory Game, and there seems to be no more than one diamond obtainable in one game.

Version 3.7.0 and after[]

After Version 3.7.0, the Memory Game was changed, but is still like 2.1.8.

There are now nine levels, with each having 1 reward of either Coins, Diamonds, Shards, Keys, Treats or Experience as cards. The amount of each reward increases the higher the level is.

The second level now has either four cards with two Monsters or twelve cards with six Monsters, the fourth level now has twelve cards with six Monsters but changed to make a 10, the fifth level now has eighteen cards with nine Monsters, the sixth level now has twenty-four cards with twelve Monsters, the seventh level has thirty-two cards with sixteen Monsters and can have 2 types, the eighth level has fourty cards with twenty Monsters, and the ninth level has fifty cards with twenty-five Monsters.

Version 2.1.8 and after[]

The player has to match cards to win. There will be two of each card per Monster at every level, with more Monsters being shown as the levels increase. Matching two cards of the same Monster type will provide progress to the minigame. Any mismatches count towards the removal of mismatch chances. Running out of mismatch chances will lose the minigame.

The first level consists of exactly two guaranteed matchable cards of the same type. The second level has four cards with two different monsters. The third level has eight cards with four different Nonsters, fourth has sixteen cards and eight Monsters, fifth has thirty-two cards and sixteen Monsters, sixth has fifty cards and twenty-five Monsters. Up to six levels may be played.

Each level has additional mismatch chances. The mismatch chances are equal to the amount of cards in that level.

The player may choose to leave the minigame or they may continue until they run out of mismatches.

When an Island does not have sufficient Monsters for the final level, element-based cards and others may be used instead. This makes the final stage incredibly difficult, as the symbols all use the same sound effect, and it is worth noting that any element can appear on these cards, even if they aren't even on the Island the game is played on. These symbols include the Natural Elements, Ethereal Elements, Electricity, Fire, the Celestial element, Magical Elements, the Legendary element, the Mythical Element, some Seasonal Elements, and a Crown-shaped symbol (representing Gold Island, it was only ever seen in another place from the 1.40 version of the Map).

On Islands where Rares and Epics exist, those Monsters may appear in the Memory Game as well, increasing the difficulty of the game as they can only be distinguished visually.

Before Version 2.1.8[]

Before Version 2.1.8, the player would select four Monsters. The game was played like "Simon" where the Monsters would create a sequence with their memory game sounds, and the player would have to memorize the sequence and tap on the Monsters in the correct order. The sequence would become more complicated and faster as the player progressed. After the player fails, they would get a reward that scaled up with their score, not unlike the other memory games that came after. The player's reward for beating their high score was 2 diamonds. no matter what the player's new high score was. This would encourage players to only beat their high score by increments of one level each time as to not miss out on diamonds, and it was removed after version 2.1.8.

In category 2-3, including top rewards, there is a chance for the prize to be from one category below. Also, there is a chance once in every game from Round 2-9 to get a prize of 1 Diamonds. When that's the case, the level itself will be shaped like a diamond.

Keep in mind, although there's a timer of 22h for a free game, the top rewards refill at 15:00 UTC.

before Version 3.8.4[]

Based on how well you do, the rewards can typically range around >1,000-2,000,000 coins, >1,000-500,000 food, 2-1,000 diamonds, 1-25 relics, and 1 or 3 keys if you pass all of the levels. The coin and food rewards may vary. The other rewards such as diamonds, relics, and keys remain on or between the set amounts given.

If you don't pass all the levels, your chances are limited to lower amounts of all the prizes. For example, if you don't beat level one, you get a chance at the most basic level of rewards consisting of 1 relic, 2 diamonds, >1,000->10,000 coins, and >1,000-3,000 food. If you beat all six levels, you have a chance at both the best and the worst rewards. Even if you beat all six levels, your chances of getting a huge reward are low. Expect to get >1,000 coins on most attempts.

Even though those odds are low, even experienced players strive for the memory game's huge rewards! The memory game can provide you with crucial materials to complete your Island (Relics, Keys, and Diamonds). You need these materials to gain certain Monsters that simply cannot be bred. There's no penalty for losing, just try your best. So try your luck and match away!

Notes[]

  • The 2.1.8 Memory Game added the ability to use Monsters whether you own them or not. For example, a person may not have a Wubbox, but if they play the Memory Game, it is possible for it to appear.

  • As of Version 3.8.2, the Memory Game can be played on almost all Islands except Tribal Island.
  • Wubbox and Rare Wubbox from each Natural Island and Ethereal Island on Gold Island's Memory Game count as different monsters, which makes Gold Island's Memory Game significantly harder.
  • As Mythical Island, Magical Sanctum, and Celestial Island do not have 25 Monsters, a few cards in the 2.1.8 Memory Game and onward are replaced with elements like Plant, Cold, and Air. Future updates made some Islands, such as Fire Oasis, allow them to possess more than 25 different species of Monsters.
    • Mythical Island's original release had the least Monsters out of any island (with 5 Monsters), so it had the most element cards.
    • Amber Island's original release was close, with 6 Monsters.
    • Fire Frontier's and Seasonal Shanty's original releases were also close, with 7 Monsters.
  • When a new Monster, for example a new Rare or Epic, has not been shown or released, you can see the Monster in the Memory Game, as well as the collection.
  • The Memory Game is the only free way to earn Experience.
  • The Werdos currently don't have their own Memory Game sounds for Water Island and Earth Island.
  • The sound that element cards make when tapped on is identical to the Wild Bagpipe. This sound is commonly used as a placeholder, appearing when hatching glitched eggs, and other times when the game doesn't know what sound to play.
