The shy and unsightly Dermit harbors clusters of itchy warts all over its skin, but what is an occasional nuisance for the Wublin is the great boon for mushrooms of all varieties. As quickly as the monster can scratch away new growths with its long nails, there's more where that came from. Oh well, spontaneous singing is as good a salve as any!
Monster Bio

Description[]

Dermit is a Supernatural Monster exclusive to Wublin Island. It was added on July 29th, 2016 during Version 1.4.3. Dermit is obtained by being purchased in the Market for 17,000 Coins as an inactive statue, which can be woken up by zapping all required Monster Eggs into it. It has a decent currency production compared to other Wublins.

Song[]

Voice actor: Dave Kerr (probably)

Dermit sings "Baum baum baum badum bom baum baum bom badum baum badum!” in a low, raspy voice at a very fast pace.

Breeding[]

Dermit cannot be bred. Like all Wublins, it is bought at the Market as an inactive statue that must be woken up.

Powering Up[]

The allotted time to fill a Dermit in order to activate is 3 days. If the inventory is not completed in the time the Dermit resets to an empty statue and all eggs inside are lost. Eggs can be zapped from Mirror Islands instead of, or in conjunction with Natural Islands.

Filling In[]

Like other Wublins, Dermit can instead be filled in with Diamonds. Each egg can be filled in for 30Diamonds. Dermit requires a total of 780Diamonds for all eggs to be filled.

Since all eggs have an equal Diamond fill cost, it is best to save your Diamonds for the Monsters that are harder to obtain. And oftentimes, it is cheaper to speed up eggs to zap from the Breeding Structure instead.

Wildcards may also be used when filling in a Dermit's inventory. Similarly, it's best to save them for harder to obtain Monsters.

Income[]

Main article: Wublins#Income

Dermit, like other Wublins, can produce between Coins39,000 and Coins78,000 Coins, Treats7,200 and Treats14,400 Treats, and Shards144 and Shards288 Shards. As a Monster that takes up a 3x3 grid space, Dermit produces Diamonds3 Diamonds. Wublins generate a random type of currency every 6 to 12 hours. This rate can be increased or decreased depending on Polarity.

Currency generation is calculated separately per Monster, so multiple Dermits will receive more currency, and have a higher chance overall to obtain valuable Diamonds. For maximizing income across your Wublin Island, see Wublin Island Grid Planning.

Currency Distribution[]

Main article: Wublins#Currency Type Distribution

The currency for Dermit is randomly selected from the 4 currencies it can produce. The chances to get each currency are detailed below. Datapoints are the number of recorded collections; the higher number of datapoints, the more accurate the data is.

Dermit's Currency Distribution
Coins Coins Treats Treats Shards Shards Diamonds Diamonds Datapoints
30.73% 33.08% 31.26% 4.91% 3,195

Please do not edit this table. The data is taken from the Wublins page, which is derived from a joint spreadsheet. You can share your data on its talk page. Note that only large sample sizes of data are valuable.

Polarity[]

All Wublins are affected by Polarity, a mechanic that modifies their currency rate similar to happiness for other Monsters. When a Wublin is placed near another Wublin they are positively charged towards, the time to produce currency will decrease by 25%. When placed near a Wublin they are negatively charged towards, the time to produce currency will increase by 25%. The Common variants can be used instead for Rare Wublins, but the effect will be half as strong. Rare variants can fully affect the polarity of a Common Wublin.

Strategy[]

The following section details strategy for powering up Dermit, for general strategy that can apply to any Monster, see Zapping#Strategy

Dermit can be powered up with up to Earth Island unlocked. It can be powered up faster with more Islands unlocked, with Bonus Breeding Structures, or Enhanced Breeding Structures.

The following strategies require zapping Eggs twice per day, once in the morning and once at night. More than two Monsters may be included in a day if it has a lower breeding time. For Fwog, you will need to return to the game to zap it after 30 minutes. However the more dedicated player could zap more per day. Note that Fwogs should not be zapped into Dermit until the evening of the first day. This ensures that you have enough time to fill the Wublin before it expires.

If you have all Islands up to Earth Island, breed:

Notes[]

  • Dermit's name could be a play on derm-, a prefix that means skin, and hermit, a person who lives in seclusion.
    • It could also be a play on Kermit, a frog character from The Muppets.
  • Dermit's name was discovered through a crossword. Colored squares correlated to a certain letter of the once upcoming Wublin name. Puzzle link.
  • Like all Wublins, there is a shadow teaser of Dermit, shown here.
  • Dermit's song has been foreshadowed twice before its reveal; its song was heard in the Wublin Island tutorial, and Brump's Memory Game sound sounded similar to Dermit's current song (except it sounds more like a Mammott).
    • Its song, along with Tympa, is the shortest of all Wublins.
  • Dermit and Arackulele share the possible name "Webster".
  • Dermit's sleeping animation used to be seemingly broken. It did rest on its muted position, though it did not animate snoring more than once after being muted. This bug was fixed with the introduction of Gheegur.
  • Dermit requires both Quad-Element Monsters that sing to be awoken.
  • For some reason, Dermit's introduction suddenly caused the last verse of the song to accidentally be removed. The reason is unknown, but it thankfully made a comeback with the introduction of Creepuscule.
  • Brump and Dermit are usually called the easiest and hardest Wublins to wake up respectively (due to how short the time is for getting Quad-Element (and 6 Furcorn) eggs). Coincidentally, they are both frogs and require Fwogs to be awoken.
  • None of the Monsters required for Dermit are on the Fire Islands, Light Island, Psychic Island, or Faerie Island.
